The Spiral Auger breaks up compact, stony, or gravelly soil that is hard to sample in. Most commonly it is used to take a disturbed sample at or near the surface of soil. It can also be used to clear away the top layer of soil if you want to sample deeper. The screw shape is ideal for boring holes quickly.
This 12″ auger is 1 1/4″ in diameter and has a double twist with 2 1/4″ twist. The auger sections are 8″ long with 4″ shanks. It can be used with any of our extension rods and handles to create the right auger length for your need.

All Oakfield Apparatus augers are constructed of high-grade nickel chrome plated steel for extra rust, tarnish and corrosion resistance. All soil sampling components are interchangeable so you can easily add parts as needed.
