The Mountfield 1538H-SD features a foot operated hydrostatic drive to give you maximum control over the mower’s speed and direction. The harder you press the drive pedal forward, the faster the tractor drives forward. The harder you press the pedal backwards, the faster the tractor reverses. This simple control makes the transition from mowing wide open spaces to mowing tight areas very easy.

The blades are engaged electronically via a switch on the dashboard. Once cutting is underway, the grass clippings are effortlessly discharged to the side of the mower or mulched. Mulching allows the grass to be cut into tiny pieces and returned to the ground as a fertilizer whilst leaving a finish that looks like the grass clippings have been collected. Changing between mulching and side discharge is quick and easy with the included mulch kit.

The height of cut is adjusted by a single lever offering cutting heights between 25 and 80mm. So, whether it is a lawn, orchard or roadside verge you are cutting, there will be a height of cut to suit.

When cutting is finished, a wash port allows grass clippings to be cleaned from the underside of the cutter deck without you ever needing to go near the blades.
